NWA 1775 Olivine-Phyric
Shergottite
Paired with NWA 1068, 1110 and
2373
NWA 1775 has olivine phenocrysts in a fine-grained groundmass of
pyroxene crystals surrounded by maskelynite – the glassy, shocked form
of plagioclase. The circular dark areas are small melt
pockets. Field of view is 4.3 mm wide.
This olivine crystal is zoned, with the rim being more iron rich than
the core. The small opaque inclusions are probably
chromite. Field of view is 1.4 mm wide.
